Kansas State Fair Race Cancelled by Fair Staff. See Forum for details.

Welcome to the Wheatland Lawn Mower Racing Association.  We will be racing riding lawnmowers in and around the Wichita, KS area.  Our goal is to create a racing series in this area that is both competitive and fun for the whole family.

Lawnmower racing is one of the most inexpensive forms of motorsports around.  There are classes that range in skill and cost from stock mowers (truly stock, with only the blades removed) to IMOW machines (specially prepared machines using totally stock engines) and fully prepared racing machines.  Among the most popular are single and twin prepared classes, in which the engine can be internally modified.  These tractors can reach speeds exceeding 20 MPH on single cylinder tractors, with twins exceeding 40 MPH.  While no motorsport can be completely safe, lawnmower racing has a very good saftey record.

We have not formalized the rules by which we will race under, but they will likely be very similar to the rules of the US Lawnmower Racing Association (www.letsmow.com) and the rules of the American Racing Mower Association (www.golawnmowerracing.com).  We want to keep the rules close to their rules, and possibly even simply adopt their rules, so we can have legal races with their chapters once in a while.  We are in communication with officials from both ARMA and the USLMRA about setting up a chapter for them.
